Seven Games Kids Should Avoid

These nightmare-inducing video games might be popular but they're definitely not for kids.

Younger gamers harbor a voracious appetite for new forms of entertainment. Don't believe us? Hand them anything with buttons and they'll figure it out in record time. On the same accord, their natural curiosity for new game experiences proves equally as hungry. For parents, deciding on the games that their kids will play, and balancing that with the other responsibilities of adulthood proves to be a daunting task. To make life a little easier, we chose a list of currently available and upcoming games that we wouldn't choose for our kids.

MadWorld (Wii): Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog is a family-friendly legend but he company's Mature rated blood-soaked slaughter fest isn't intended for families. Offering a unique look incorporating black and white elements to depict your character, buildings, foes and spike-laden vehicles, it's the third color that makes this a game a "must not have game for kids." That color, red, is used in the most brutal way to glamorize a TV game show that gains ratings through impaling foes repeatedly and using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to tear apart enemies like paper. Don't let the Wii-only release of MadWorld fool you.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (DS): While most DS games are good for Everyone, this Grand Theft Auto title is enough to raise the concerns of parents despite being a game for the most popular gaming system for kids. Rated M for Mature, players engage in illegal activities like dealing drugs, carjacking and performing gang gunfights. That's enough to perform some gang warfare of our own.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare: War is never pretty and Call of Duty 4 paints a startling picture of the chaos and unpredictability of warfare with vicious dogs, loads of blood, realistic graphics and additional points for shots to an enemy's head. Based on fictional military operations, players will also experience harsh language as well as graphical depictions of torture and execution scenes make this one an adult-only game.

Manhunt 2 (Wii, PS2 , PSP): Rockstar Games, makes of the Grand Theft Auto series, created what many consider to be one of the most sinisterly graphic depictions of killing in a game yet. Shockingly, the version of the Wii game is the most brutal as it lets players use the Wii Remote to stab, slash or hit other asylum inmates while your character goes on a drug-induced kill fest.

Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC): This journey to the fictional village of Kijuju, Africa where a biological agent is turning villagers into vicious and mutated psychotics. Gruesome occurrences that look and play out like some of your worst dreams even cause nightmares with some adults -- just imagine the effect on younger gamers.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop (Wii): Being tapped in the mall at Victoria's Secret is one thing but being locked in a zombie-infested mall is another. Capcom's mall maul tasks players with killing as many zombies as possible in any creative way they can. From impaling them with signs to smashing them with bowling balls, all done through motions of the Wii Remote. While no one likes letting he zombies win, the Wii's inferior graphics do mellow out some of the brutality but still showcase a great deal of blood.

Fallout 3 (Xbox 360 , PS3, PC): As a Lone Wanderer, players journey through a post-apocalyptic version of Washington, DC, now called the Capitol Wasteland. The nukes wiped out most of the residents; most of them mutated creatures with blood lust. Apart from gaining experience from slaughtering mutants, the game's graphic engine further details those killings in shocking detail, eyes fly through the air and one of the game's makers was quite proud of the flying jawbone of one human-like creature, the result of a perfect headshot. While it's not a brutal as other games on the list, some languages and possible questions about the morality of certain players in the game could raise the eyebrows of some parents.

These game are great, I grew up playing grand theft auto, AND resident evil games. And why the **** are they saying COD games should be avoided? You see shooting every where these days, from a head shot on a video game, to a kid getting shot w. a bb gun, to ****in sponge bob shooting squidward w. a slingshot. My mom never beleived in censorship, she figured the more i learn now, the less she'll have to explain later. And i'm smart for that. How can you say its okay to cut open a from to the point where you have intestines on your hand, but tell a kid he can't shoot a zombie in the head.? Censorship is one of the many things ruining the country.

Ive been playing M rated games since i was probably 7. And no, im not a deranged lunatic or socially scarred. My family and I don't believe in censorship. If you as a parent don't want your children playing M rated games, than thats your choice. But don't say these games should be avoided, in fact most of these are great games and if you are all right with your children playing them then by all means let them play. Video games are a great source of entertainment and social bonding with other peers, they aren't mindless trash.

"Eeeeeew, a jawbone! I'm going to gather my skirts and flounce over to the video game company and tell them 'well, I never!'" Aren't these dead issues by now? Don't want your kids playing these games? Don't buy 'em. It's 2009, and lots of people buying video games are old enough to decide for themselves.

For those of you who think these games don't need to even be made, just remember, video games are not just made for children. And these games are generally NOT made for age groups below 14. My boyfriend who is 22 years old is a normal person, who works a steady job, is in school, never been arrested, plays 4 of the games listed. Adults play video games too, adults can figure out if it's right or wrong to kill someone. This aritcle is about not letting KIDS play them, so stop saying these games don't need to be made.

There is no need whatsoever to have games like this! It just goes to show what kind of "falling world" we live in. I am not really into video games period. There are more productive things to do with your time. So many parents don't want to take the time to train their children. Either parents themselves want to play the games (spoilt lazy adults) so they are not going to tell their children no or they would rather do their own things and let the video games babysit. Oh and how could anyone justify these games by saying they are no worse than cable or satellite? Who says we have to watch that trash either? What is the world coming to? No moral standards? We wonder why kids are the way they are today.... it's not hard... look at their parents! It's crazy too because parents don't want to take responsibility for their kids if their kids grow up and "don't turn out right". But have you ever noticed that when kids do "turn out right" parents are the first to say that the child took after them! Come on now.... our children ARE a reflection of us! Take time with them, teach them, love them, disciple them, enjoy them and raise them yourself!! There is no excuse for trash games!!!!
