If you or your kids were a fan of EA's SimAnimals and its free-roaming fun, you'll be grabbing your suitcases in anticipation of its sequel, SimAnimals Africa. As in the original, gamers will help animals interact with each other and the environment while also learning about these wild creatures and how to keep the balance in nature.

PlaySavvy recommended the original game to parents and the review said, "This is a deep and intriguing nature simulation that will appeal to both kids and adults." You can expect more of the same, except with new animals in a different environment. Gamers will interact with elephants, rhinos, crocodiles, zebras, lions, giraffes, and other animals found in the river deltas, savannahs, deserts, and jungles of Africa.
SimAnimals Africa has plenty of mini-games, unlockable locations, animals, and items, and collectible goodies, along with the challenges of learning about each animal and getting them to interact with each other and the environment to help you obtain your goals with their unique skills. For instance, the crocodile is a master hunter, the zebra is good at kicking things, and so on.
The DS version offers all of this and more -- more animals like meerkats, parrots, and aardvarks; reward badges; and the ability to interact with the parrot that guides you through the wilderness using the DS stylus and microphone. The DS version also has a coop mode.
The studio behind SimAnimals and SimAnimals Africa, EA, is also responsible for Sims mania. EA just came out with the third game in The Sims series, which sold 1.4M games in the first week and is now available for the iPhone.
SimAnimals Africa will be available this fall. It's not yet rated.
